B reakfast with god
4:12 - 10/4/26 - 58 degrees. I sit in my old rocker on my small redwood porch, surrounded by a variety of trees, but mostly pine. I am humbled by nature. I thank God for all he has done in my life, including the little things that often go unnoticed. I sip my coffee. The early rain falls gently at my feet as I sit underneath the overhang of my porch. The wind blows softly, and I hear his voice in everything. If you sit quietly and let yourself feel, you will understand.
The fir tree in front of me stands tall and spreads her arms wide, but beneath her are only three long stems that hold her up. They don't seem big enough to support such a magnificent tree. Yet they do. There is so much to be learned from nature. The fir tree teaches us that size doesn't matter. Although held up by only three skinny stems. She weathers all storms by just bending with the wind. The storms of life will always come, and no matter where we are in life, we still need to bend with the wind as God holds us up. We need only to ask him to show us the way. If we sit quietly, the answers will come; they may not always be the answers we are looking for, but they will be his answers. Psalm 25: 1-4 expresses this more clearly.
4:34 a.m. train rings through the night with its piercing whistle. I hear some snorting noise, only to find a family of raccoons crossing my path, stopping to have a bite to eat.
At 5:23 am, a rooster crows through the dark silence as reliably as my grandfather clock, bringing a nostalgic feeling to the first light of a new day.
Until next time with Breakfast with God.
