5:00 am, September 26, 2025.

It is a balmy spring-like morning as I sit on my burgundy-stained porch, which consists of an old wooden rocking chair in which I sit, and to my right is the front door, then an old Adirondack chair that has definitely seen better days. Diagonally, there is another chair resembling a chaise lounge, and in front of me stands another of the same. I sit underneath an overhang that protects me from the rain and snow. For you to see, I sit out here every morning year-round. Why do I do this? I don't quite know. I only know I need to. It is my way of communicating with God. I think it started a year ago when I began reading the Bible, a chapter a day. And yes, I have missed many days, but never a day without God. In fact, we have breakfast together every morning, as the title suggests. I bring my coffee out with my Bible and read a chapter while I am in His presence. First, I begin by thanking Him for the many blessings He has bestowed upon me, especially the environment in which I live and my prayers that He has answered as He always does. Not always the way I would expect, but His way. I have learned that one needs to be acutely aware of how He might answer our prayers. I have noticed this more and more as my relationship grows stronger with Him. It is in reading the Bible and having coffee with Him every morning that has brought me closer to Him. His presence surrounds me. In the dark, I can feel His arms around me, loving me and I Him. I feel Him in the gentle breeze that gently moves the limbs of the cedar fir in front of me. I try to imagine Jesus sitting in the lounge across from me. I talk to Him and have coffee with Him as though He is there, and I wonder what I would do if He really were, and at the same time, I think He is, for He is in the hearts of all who believe, which makes Him ever-present.

6:30 am. and it is getting much lighter. I can see the lush greenery of the forest now.

The birds have begun their songs, and God is in his glory. I wonder what his plan is for me. I am just his humble servant trying to get it right.

The takeaway from today's Bible reading is becoming aware of all the little things God does in our lives each day. I am aware and thankful for the many things God has done in my life, but now I will take the time to look at it in everything I see, do, and hear. So, I challenge all of you to do the same as you have coffee with God in the morning.
