4:27 - 31degress - 1/23/26 I sit in my rocker underneath the overhang on my small redwood porch, with a heater under my chair and a blanket over my lap. Darkness surrounds me. I can see Venus shimmering through the fir tree standing proudly in front of me. I can see the shadows of the forest far beyond and the old oak tree with its straggly arms reaching far into the night sky.
I drink my coffee and am content to know God is with me as always. I believe he enjoys this morning routine also. Wouldn't it be nice if the whole world participated in this routine, as well?
5:04 train cries out in the night with its haunting song. The air is cool and refreshing. I say my prayers and talk with God, thanking him for all the prayers he has answered and all the blessings he has bestowed upon me. I read the next chapter of the Bible. I am almost to the end now. Although I do not understand all that I have read, very little really. However, I have come away with the understanding of God's great love for me and that he wants a relationship with me, as he does with all of us. I have come to realize that the Bible speaks to you without you realizing it.
5:31 train passes in the darkness. I drift back to a poem I wrote years ago, but I think it is very appropriate now. It goes like this.
Let me be a simple soul
No matter what life brings
Finding joy in solitude
and peace in little things
Content to watch the grass
grow
and all the flowers bloom
Bringing sunlight to the
lives
That may be touched with gloom.
Wouldn't it be nice if this could be the mantra for all of us?
Until next time with Breakfast with God.
