6:05 - 2/8/26

Due to the arctic weather, I have remained inside my house, but it is almost the same as being outside, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows and a huge bay window overlooking a snow-covered lake set in a sleeping forest. The lake is home to many creatures, one of whom is the beaver and his family. He remains very diligent in his work and often can be seen taking a lunch break as he sits on a fallen log, eating the greens from the bottom of a portion of the lake not yet frozen due to underground springs. He is a joy to watch, along with the hawk who just flew in, landing at the top of a skinny pine tree, waiting for some nourishment to come along. As I watch the forest, I am absorbed into it. I feel God's presence all around me. He is in the wind, the trees, the wildlife, the sunlight on the tippy most branches of the trees, and yes, even in the turkey sleeping on a branch just beyond my window.

I thank God for the opportunity to witness the artistry of his hand, the nature he created. I am blessed to be able to sit here and write this blog. There are many ways to witness God and his great love. He is everywhere, not just by my lake. He is the individual who hands food to the person crawling out of a box, or on the lips of the person who said just the thing you needed to hear today, or in the eyes of the one you love most. He is everywhere and for everyone.

I read the next chapter of the Bible and am assured that God has a plan for all of us. But because we have free will, we can choose to obey his commandments or not. So, let's choose to do what is good for our brothers and sisters.

Jesus said, "Love each other as I have loved you. "That is a tall order and a difficult thing to do a lot of the time. God said, " Love thy neighbor as thyself. Love is the greatest healer. Can you imagine if we all showed love for each other? The world would know no pain.

Until next time with Breakfast with God.
