5:30 - 35 degrees - 3/6/26 Back outside. I sit on my old rocking chair under the overhang on my small redwood porch once again. There is something about being outside that brings me closer to God. I am enveloped in his arms of darkness. His love echoes from the soft breeze, the mighty fir tree, standing before me, and the rains that are bringing forth spring from the earth.

5:48 The birds have begun their morning chorus. I say my prayers and thank God as always for all he does in my life, my family, and my clients.

The darkness is lifting, revealing tall skinny brown sticks with the soft touch of spring. I hear a lone songbird nearby calling out to his mate in the quiet distance as the 5:56 train passes. Its forlorn sound brings harmony to the forest.

I read an excerpt from the Bible. There is much that I still don't understand. However, I do understand the importance of living in the moment of one's life. No matter where you find yourself, it is important to recognize what is happening to you and around you at that very moment. This is the path to inner peace and happiness. Many people live from one vacation to the next or one holiday to the next, having only existed in between, and it is the in between that matters, or you haven't really lived at all, but only existed through life. It is in being grounded with the earth and the environment around you that brings you closer to God and therefore prevents life from slipping away. One lives life instead of just getting through it.

It is those quiet moments that one finds God, and being grounded is a good start, for he is in the soft breeze, the mighty storm, the tender daffodils, and the soft earth under your feet. The God who brings peace beyond all understanding is waiting to be found.

Until next time with Breakfast with God.
