4:50 a.m. - 4/2/26 - 45 degrees. I sit in my old rocker on my small redwood porch. The heater under my chair keeps me warm with a blanket over my lap. The rains from last night have just stopped, leaving behind a scent of fresh pines with a gentle mist covering the forest.

I drink my coffee and talk with God.

4:56 The first bird welcomes in the spring with her fervent call.

5:03 train rings off in the distance with a soulful sound.

6:13 The chorus has begun. I feed the wildlife with some seed near my driveway. The first to partake is the chipmunk coming out from winter's darkness to celebrate the light. It is a joy to see him again. He stuffs his little cheeks with as much as he can hold, then scampers off. The doe with her three babies from last year has arrived. Soon there will be more babies. The geese pair have arrived once again in my lake for their spring nesting, along with many other species that have begun to pair up. The cardinal with his mate has come down to feed along with the woodpeckers, wrens, and chickadees.

I read a portion of the Bible that tells of Jesus' death and resurrection. I can only hope that I am worthy of what he did for me.

Life is changing as I write. The old pass away, and new life is born. It is very much like us. We are warm and safe in our mother's womb. We do not want to leave, but then we are born into the loving eyes of our mother, and all is well. Now we become use to life. It then becomes our homeostasis, and once again, we don't want to leave until we are born again into more loving eyes. The eyes of truth.

I look up from my writing into two very large brown eyes. She is startled by my movement, but not enough to run off. I can see the rest of them foraging in the forest just beyond my fir tree. Soon, the forest will provide them with more food. It is God's way. He provides for them, and he provides for us. We have only to pay attention to see how he has and is working in our lives.

Until next time, with breakfast with God
