5:06 - 47 degrees - 4/13/26 I sit on my old rocker on my small redwood porch surrounded by the forest. The fresh scent of pines after an early morning rain permeates the air. There is a light fog that lays like a soft blanket over the forest, making the 5:06 train sound even more eerie as it thunders through. Its lonesome whistle rings through the trees, announcing a new day along with the song sparrow who is the first to welcome in the day as well. I hear a hoot hoot through the trees and know the Great Horned Owl is nearby. A welcome visitor to the forest. A magnificent species with a 57-inch wingspan.
I say my prayers and talk with God, thanking Him for all He does in my life, and I pray for those I know are in need. I ask God to come into their hearts to help them find their way. I find a passage of the Bible to meditate on. It is the 25th psalm by David. He states, "Lord, show me the right path." To find the right path, one must take the journey and talk with God. The more you commune with God and learn about Him, the more you will become aware of your path. It is a beautiful thing. Take the journey.
The Northern Cardinal and the Titmouse have joined the Song Sparrow in this morning's melody. The Blue-Grey Gnatcatcher and the Carolina Wren have just woken along with the Eastern Phoebe, who is now leading the chorus as the forest comes alive. Even though there is a stillness over the forest, the sound is deafening. I feel God's presence all around me. The tall fir tree, which stands a few feet in front of me, has become the home for all the little birds this morning as they await their turn to feed.
5:51 The darkness is lifting. The breeze picks up, causing the chimes to make a beautiful accompaniment to the melody of the forest. I put feed out on the driveway and wait to see who is the first to visit. I didn't have to wait long before the chipmunk ran out from under my deck to grab the first peanut. But of course, it couldn't be just one; no, he left looking like he had an apple stuffed in each side of his mouth. The gray squirrel is next with the black squirrel right behind him. The black-capped chickadee and the song sparrow are next, along with the dark-eyed junco. What a beautiful morning. God's creatures are everywhere and singing up a storm. The forest is alive with its harmonic music of God's creatures.
I have put Psalm 25 to memory now. I hope all of you will let go and trust God will show you the right path. You have only to do what David did. Put your trust in the God who saves you.
Until next time with Breakfast with God,
