4:13 a. m. - 6/27/26 - 69 degrees. I sip my coffee. It is dark, the sun doesn't rise until 5:21 a. m. I sit in my old redwood rocker on my small redwood porch. I love the peace that comes with the early morning. I say my prayers, which is really talking with God. I thank him for all the answered prayers and for always being with me. It has been a blessing to see him work in my clients' lives.
5:00 a.m. train whistles through the forest as it brings its cargo to work. And we start a new day with a Carolina wren singing her morning song, hitting every note with beautiful clarity. As she sings, the chipmunks and squirrels run around my feet looking for peanuts. Even the bluejays come down to the porch now. I thank God for all the little friends I have in nature and for the beautiful, gentle hand that created them. I read a few scriptures from the Bible, and when I looked up, there was a stately Doe with her new fawn so young that he still had all his spots, just feet away, eating from the pile of seed I had put down.
My thoughts drift back to my blog of two weeks ago, when I talked about miracles. I had a client this past week whose story I want to share with you, but first, you must know a little about her background. She is a sixty-year-old woman who has spent her entire life under the abuse of one person or another. It started as a young child, then as a young adult when her Mother left and never came back, then again when she left home, only to fall into the arms of someone who would treat her the same as her father. Her self-belief is twisted by now into believing that she deserves this. Now she sits on the precipice of life, afraid to go forward and afraid to stay. One early morning of last week, she found herself sitting in her backyard deliberating over this and praying to God for an answer when she looked up to see the clouds parting, displaying an image of a little girl with arms wrapped around her then the image morfed into an older child with arms wrapped around her and yet into another image of a young adult with arms warped asound her and finally into a grown woman with arms warped around her and as the image faded away she heard an asnwer within herself saying, " Take the apartment, take the apartment." This was the answer she needed, and she took the apartment, which also turned out to be a blessing. God does see and listen. He is always there, even in your darkest hour, when you don't think so, he is there.
Until next time, with breakfast with God.
