8/2/26 - 73 degrees - 5:03. I am enveloped in darkness and sarranaded by the hum of crickets. The Northern Cardinal is again the first to cry out in the dark.I wonder who he is calling or if he is just letting the world know he is here. Now the Catbird begins his repertoire of songs.

I sip my coffee, and as I sit in my rocker on my small redwood porch, I begin my prayers. Beginning with my gratitude for a God who is with me at all times, my rock and protector. I thank him for the wonders of the day and for all he has blessed me with each day. I talk with him and pray for people I know who are in need. I then read an excerpt from the Bible, hoping to grasp a better understanding.

5:37 - I am often asked by people, how do you find your way to a better relationship with God? They often say they pray but don't feel anything. My answer is this. God is love. He is the peace beyond all understanding. It is a peace you have to allow yourself to feel. That means to stop everything and let him in. To be still and know that he is God. He is the all-powerful creator who created us out of his great love in hopes that we would, in turn, come to love and worship him with the same love.

I sip my coffee, and from the corner of my eye, I catch a stoic presence standing still and quiet, patiently waiting for me. The Doe knows that if she waits quietly and trusts, I will feed her, and she is right, I will. It is the same for us. If we wait quietly and trust in God, He will deliver. "Ask, and you shall receive," in God's time, not ours.

Until next time with Breakfast With God.
