8/14/26 - 7:31 - 71 degrees. It is a delightful morning. I sit here in my rocker on my small redwood porch, surrounded by the forest, watching the Doe eat the seed I carefully laid on the driveway. The chipmunks, squirrels, and bluejays eat at my feet. They are a delight. Friends sent from God. How lucky am I. I am just a simple soul, content to watch the grass grow. Money can not buy this.

7: 45 The welcoming sound of the train whistle flows through the forest. I say my prayers and read a few verses from the Bible. My thoughts drift back to one of my clients who asked me, "How do you find happiness?" He believes it is in doing things, the next vacation or holiday, or material things to own, or more money. He has all these, yet none of them will bring him the peace and joy I feel right now. Happiness is not in material things or vacations, etc. Sure, you may feel happiness at times. But true happiness (contentment) doesn't come and go. It never leaves you, even in your darkest hour. It is buried within your soul. So now my client asks, what does he have to do to achieve this? But it is not in the doing. It is in the quiet moments when you open your heart to God and let him come in. Some say they do this and nothing happens. So then I ask, what do you think is getting in the way? The usual answer comes down to control. It doesn't matter what it is. What matters is that they think they know better than God, so they are not letting go of that aspect of their lives. One must let go so God can come in and do wonderful things in your life. But only if you let him in. Letting go of control does not mean you will never make a decision again. Remember, God gave us free will. It simply means you are aware that God knows best, and that, going forward, your life will be guided by God if you let go and let him in. It is your choice. He is waiting at the door; you just have to open it.

If you want peace (happiness), then you must look to God, for he is peace. Proverbs 3:5-6 says: "Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your path straight." Philippians 4:7: "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." And Matthew 11:-29 is a call to accept his guidance (Yoke) and learn from his gentle nature to find inner peace.

Until next time with Breakfast with God.
