5:18am - 8/21/26 - 72 degree as I sit in my old rocker on my small redwood porch deep in the forest the northern Cardinal sings through the darkness. CIRRUS clouds are strewn in a peach array across the early morning sky, with the reflection of the sun that is about to rise. As quietly as, standing in my driveway, is a young buck magnificently showing off his new antlers as he waits for his usual handout. Along with him is Mr. Gray squirrel, who sits up straight with his little arms bent, begging at my feet.

I set my coffee and remember the sultry summer days when I would sit quietly on the porch with my mother, during the dog days of August, as she would put it. I treasure those memories..

I say my prayers and thank God for those wonderful memories. I look forward to the day when I will see her again.. I read an excerpt from the Bible and talk with God as I do every day.. I pray for those whom I know are in need.

The Carolina Wren has awoken. She is a small little bird with a big voice. The darkness lifts and the new summer day is born.. for many of you. This is not a wonderful thing. many of you are trapped in your own fears or troubles.. This is what I challenge you to do.. when you wake each morning fine one thing one thing that you can be thankful for or look forward to. It does not matter what it is., any small thing anything at all?. the next morning do the same except find two things you are thankful for and look forward to. Each day, increase it by one and you will find your way out of the darkness..

Until next time with breakfast with God
