A Winter's Blessing
VII
5:04 a.m. 12/14/25
This morning, I am blessed with a blanket of white as I sit in my rocker underneath the overhang of my snow-covered porch. I feel warm from the heater under my chair. What a blessing it is to experience God's majesty in the deafening silence of the snow.
I say my prayers and thank God for His ever-presence. The Cedar Fir stands tall in front of me, dressed in God's glory. Her branches gently sway low underneath their heaviness. She sends a message of peace at a very holy time of year. I hope that all of us can take a moment from our troubles and walk outside for a few minutes to breathe in God's love.
I sip my coffee and know that Jesus sits quietly with me. The Christmas lights twinkle beneath the fresh, newly laid snow, surrounded by darkness, magnifying their beauty. Each twinkle reminds me of the light He brings into our lives.
5:23 a.m. I read the next chapter of the Bible. The words flow like a gentle stream, nourishing my spirit. They remind me of the importance of pausing and reflecting on His teachings.
As the darkness lifts, the wooded branches of the forest become more evident. They stand out, shimmering in the forest, their branches lightly dusted with white. The beauty of nature is a reflection of God's artistry. Each flake of snow is unique, just like each of us.
6:14 a.m. There is silence, not even a sound from the birds who have not awakened on this wintry morning. The stillness wraps around me like a warm embrace. I hope all of you will step outside this morning to breathe in a little of God's glory.
In moments like these, I find a deep sense of peace. The world outside may be cold, but within my heart, there is warmth. I reflect on the blessings in my life, big and small. Each one is a reminder of God's love and grace.
As I sit here, I think about how easy it is to get caught up in the rush of life. The demands of the day can pull us away from these quiet moments. Yet, it is in these still times that we can truly connect with the divine.
I encourage you to take a moment for yourself today. Step outside, even if just for a few minutes. Feel the crisp air on your face and let it awaken your spirit. Look around you and see the beauty in the world.
Let the silence speak to you. Listen for the whispers of love and encouragement that God offers. It is in these moments that we can find clarity and strength.
