A TROUBLED HEART

3:30 a.m. - 27degrees -12/31/25. I sit warm on my rocking chair, under the overhang on my small redwood porch. It is the last day of the year, and this morning I sit with a troubled heart. What was once beautiful to me now seems dull and dim. It has lost the luster it had yesterday. For now, I see it through a troubled heart, which, as you know, changes everything. Yet I know that Jesus meets us in the darkness as well as the light. We have only to reach for his outstretched hand, which is always there. Some of you might ask, "Well, how do we do that?" By simply talking with him and knowing that he listens. Didn't he say, "Come all of you who are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest?" No burden is too light or too heavy, so I give him mine. It is my prayer this morning that those of you with heavy hearts will look to the light also. Don't let Satan tell you stories that aren't true. Instead, be true to yourself. Look back into your heart and see the truth about yourself, then write a new story. Jesus will tell you the truth; listen to him. He lives in your heart, and he often speaks to us through loved ones and strangers as well. Not the dark power that tells you lies.

If your life story is like a bag of coal around your neck. Write a new one. Who said you have to keep carrying the old one around? Let it go and write a new one. Use the gifts God has given you to bring a little light to another's heart who's may touched with gloom.

The Christmas lights twinkle for the last time this morning. It is as sad as it is pleasant. It was a beautiful season, now we move on to the next season.

5:00 a.m. I am surrounded by darkness, and I can feel his love embracing me because I am open to it. God speaks to me through his great love. It can't be explained; it can only be experienced.

My coffee is cold now, but I drink it anyway. I read the next chapter of the Bible. I started this morning with a troubled heart; now I close with praise and thanksgiving for the prayers that God will answer.
