4?24/26 - 6:00 a.m. - 47 degrees I have returned to my small redwood porch in the front of my home due to early morning rains. The rains, mingling with the pines, bring a clean, fresh scent to the early morning.
I say my prayers and talk with God as I sip my coffee. I have now put to memory the 23rd, 24th, and 25th psalms. I chose these because they speak to me the most, and it feels good to have put them to memory. They come in handy when I need them. Such as when darkness fills our hearts, it becomes difficult to see the beauty that is still there. But God's loving arms never leave us. We may not be able to see through our darkness, but He is still there and always will be.
As I write, I see movement through the separated branches of the cedar pine sitting a few feet in front of me. Through the branches, I can see them gently licking each other. As they approach the feed I have laid down in the driveway, I see it is the doe with her young from last year.
The Doe and her young leave, and the ruby red cardinal, who has been waiting in the apple tree, is the first to bravely come down for food, with the Titmouse following closely behind. The rest wait up in the various trees, still too timid to come down. It is a lot like people who allow fear to hold them back from living their lives. Walking through your fears takes courage. If you walk through, you get to see what's on the other side. But if you don't, you stay stuck, never getting what you're looking for. Much like the the wildlife still waiting in the trees until the food is there no more.
Until next time with Breakfast with God.
