5:00 a.m. 12/24/25 38 degrees. Sitting in my rocker under the
overhang, warm and cozy in my little corner of the porch. Today is the Eve of Jesus' birth, so I begin with thanks for God coming to earth in the form of Jesus to show us how to live, to treat each other, and most of all to carry our sins to the cross so we could have a stairway to Heaven.
So today I celebrate Jesus's birth. I know the greatest gift I can give him is to love my neighbor as he has loved me. So, I will humbly try. I sip my coffee and sit back in my rocker, knowing that he is God, surrounding me with his love.
6:20 a.m., the 6:20 train roars by in the distance with its thunderous sound streaming through the forest. To my right, I hear tiny huffs and turn to look, and find myself looking into the eyes of a young Doe. My movement startled her, too, as she and her friend immediately galloped off. I put food out hoping for her return, but instead, a fawn (new this winter) shows up. She is obviously used to me and has no fear at all. She forges on, eating all the food herself.
6:30 a.m. The darkness is lifting. The Fir tree seems to have grown, its branches reaching out to me, decorated in tiny drops of crystals. It is truly a beautiful Christmas Eve morning. I hope all of you can take a little time out of your day, today or tomorrow, to remember Jesus' Birthday and what he did for us.
Merry Christmas until next time with Breakfast with God.
